Personal History | Tessia was born on Earth to a human mother, Rebecca Butler. Her father was Romulan, but Tessia knew very little about him; her mother only mentioned that they met at a conference, had a brief fling, and nine months later, Tessia was born. Before Tessia was even one, Rebecca, an archaeologist, left Earth with Tessia, heading for the desert planet Anekar where ruins of an ancient civilization had been discovered. Tessia spent the next 18 years of her life on Anekar, a harsh desert world dominated by vast, sweeping sand dunes, rocky plateaus, and the remnants of ancient civilizations. The planet teemed with various sand creatures, space pirates, tomb raiders, and individuals seeking to escape authority. Inevitably, Tessia got entangled in a situation with smugglers that led to her capture by Wolfclaw, a Marine special operations unit. She was framed as the fall person for a powerful group operating on Anekar. However, Major Razi, the commanding officer of Wolfclaw, was not convinced that Tessia was the main culprit and decided to investigate further. This led to the collapse of the group but also painted a target on Tessia. Major Razi offered to take her and her mother away from Anekar to ensure her safety. Tessia accepted the offer, but Rebecca refused to leave. She wanted to continue her work and insisted that she would be safe, believing that her connections on Anekar would keep her hidden if necessary. Following Major Razi's recommendation, Tessia enlisted in the Marines. She spent the next several years in rigorous training and, upon completion, was assigned to a special operations unit called Ravenfire. Over the next decade, Tessia undertook numerous missions, both classified and unclassified. In 2394, Tessia took a leave of absence from the Marines after receiving concerning news about her mother. During her year-long leave, she returned to Anekar for the first time since her unceremonious departure. After a year, she rejoined the Marines and was assigned to a new unit, PhantomClaw. Her time with PhantomClaw lasted for approximately a year. On her third mission with the unit, an incident resulted in half of her team being killed in action. Afterward, she was recalled to Earth and placed on medical leave. She spent six months on leave before being cleared to return to duty. Initially assigned to headquarters, she requested to be placed on fleet duty after a couple of months. Her first assignment on a vessel was aboard the USS Wellington, a Nebula-class starship. It took her some time to adjust to full-time life aboard a ship, but she managed. The assignment was considered relatively light duty, allowing her to ease back into full-time active duty before being reassigned to another vessel. After about a year aboard the USS Wellington, she was reassigned to the USS Pioneer. |
