Personal History Diska’s family was one of countless Romulans displaced from the Hobus incident in 2387. Separated and cast into the galaxy like stars without numbers. Ten year old Diska found herself orphaned on the Federation Colony world Tenold III. The frightened girl found herself cared for by members of the Healing Hand society there, who greeted the refugees with warm food, shelter and a safe place.

Diska hated it.

She was the very picture of troubled youth, trying to deal with the loss of her family and the only home she’d ever knew. Of course she got herself into trouble.

Repeatedly.

At age twelve, she was taken to task by Curate Hilda Huraan, who grew tired of young Diska’s acting out and made the child a personal project. Former Gunnery Sergeant Huraan of the Federation Marine Corp made a definite impression in the youth.Diska had altered her attitude and found she wanted to follow in her new mentor’s life path. Still hating the orphanage and colony life, she involved herself in the colonies JRTOC and Explorer programs and found the discipline offered to her by those programs something that struck a cord with her.

As did her involvement in music programs, specifically she found drums appealing and spent hours pouring herself into hammering at a drum kit when physical training just wouldn’t do. Diska found the she wanted to create, not just be a warrior and music gave her that.

So at age fifteen, she was able to enlist in the Marines, finishing boot camp during a break from her schooling and then served in the Colonial militia on Tenold III, serving the people of her new homeward while still studying and completing her schooling. At age nineteen she had finished her advanced studies in military history and governmental studies which qualified her for Officer Candidate School within the FMC.

OCS suited her and she found the more regimented lifestyle suited her and she was excited to get out into the galaxy. She's excited to be joining her first command after becoming a second lieutenant: The USS Pioneer.
