Personal History Date of Birth: August 19, 2369

Jali Maral Andloch was born to Thodmar Andloch, a Klingon and former KDF officer, and Sopova Maral, a Human of Mongolian and Russian descent. Sopova had come to Qo'noS with her family, where her father served in the diplomatic corps. It was there that Sopova and Thodmar first crossed paths at a bat'leth tournament. Sopova's own training with Klingon weapons gave the two some common ground, and in time their acquaintance grew into something more.

Thodmar had been married previously and had two sons, Asugbal and Torgaljin. Their mother, Captain Yinossa Andloch, had served in the Klingon Defense Force and was killed in a battle involving two Romulan warbirds. About a year after her death, Thodmar met Sopova. Jali would later be born into their blended family, followed five years later by her younger brother, Khasar.

Growing up in such a blended household exposed Jali to all sides of her heritage. Her parents encouraged their children to understand where they came from while allowing them to find their own paths. Jali developed a strong sense of family as well as a fierce independent streak.

Jali's maternal grandparents, Dmitri Volkov and Naran Maral Erdene, were also an important part of her childhood. Dmitri had started his Starfleet career in Security before eventually entering diplomatic service, while Naran was a Starfleet scientist specializing in botany and exobotany. The two had known each other when they were young, though there had been no romance between them at the time. Their paths crossed again later while both were serving in Starfleet, and this time their friendship blossomed into something more.

From a very young age, Jali regularly spent time with her grandparents on Earth, particularly in Mongolia. She was barely three when she was first introduced to horseback riding and archery. As she grew older, so did her skills, with both becoming lifelong passions.

Naran also passed along her love and knowledge of plants to her granddaughter. Jali learned about flowers, herbs and other plants while spending time with her grandmother. Both grandparents made certain she learned about her Mongolian and Russian heritage as well.

As she grew older, Jali spent more time with her grandparents and learned more about both sides of her Human heritage. Mongolia wasn't just somewhere she went to visit her grandparents; to Jali, it was another home.

While growing up on Qo'noS, Jali became friends with Craig Samson, whose family lived there for a time. Eventually Craig and his family left Qo'noS, and their lives took them in different directions.

Jali also came to know K'doc Valadorn through the longstanding friendship between their families. Over time the two developed a strong sibling-like bond, with Jali coming to regard K'doc as another brother. Their connection continued into adulthood.

At eighteen, Jali announced her intention to join Starfleet. Asugbal and Torgaljin strongly disapproved. Both held some of the more traditional attitudes when it came to women being in positions of command and authority. The fact that their younger sister intended to pursue her future in Starfleet rather than the Klingon Defense Force only added to their objections.

Thodmar and Sopova, however, supported their daughter's decision. If anything, her brothers' objections only made Jali more determined to prove herself on her own merits.

Starfleet Academy

At eighteen, Jali entered Starfleet Academy and began training for a career in Security. Her determination and physical abilities served her well, though her temper occasionally caused her some trouble.

During her time at the Academy, Jali learned that discipline wasn't simply about controlling herself in a fight. She also had to recognize when her anger was beginning to affect her judgment and when it was better to walk away. It was a lesson she would continue putting into practice throughout her career.

Upon graduating, Jali was commissioned as an Ensign and received her first assignment aboard the Nebula-class USS Broadsword.

USS Broadsword

Life aboard the USS Broadsword gave Jali the chance to put what she had learned at the Academy into actual practice. She took part in away missions, investigations, protective details and the everyday work that came with being a Security officer aboard a starship.

As she gained experience, Jali also began taking an interest in Tactical. Security was still her primary field, but she began cross-training and learning more about the ship's weapons and defensive systems, tactical sensors and threat assessment.

Eventually Jali became qualified to stand Tactical watches and would occasionally work the Tactical station when needed. She wasn't an experienced Tactical officer, but she enjoyed learning another side of shipboard operations and continued adding to those skills while still working primarily in Security.

It was during this part of her career that one assignment had Jali serving on the protective detail for Bajoran diplomat Judak Zhasha Teni.

Things went wrong when an attack separated Jali and Zhasha from the rest of the Security detail. Jali did her best to keep the diplomat behind her and out of the fighting, only to find out that Zhasha had other ideas.

One of their attackers got too close, and Zhasha took him down with a chair.

After that, Jali wasn't about to treat Zhasha as someone helpless who needed to hide behind her. The two women ended up fighting back-to-back as they made their way towards extraction.

Jali received a commendation for her actions, though she insisted Zhasha deserved recognition as well. In Jali's opinion, they had gotten out of there together.

Her work aboard the Broadsword continued to earn her greater responsibility, and she eventually received a promotion to Lieutenant JG.

Deep Space Five — 2397

Following her promotion, Jali transferred to Deep Space Five as a Security Investigations Officer.

Moving from a starship to a large station brought Jali a different set of challenges. There were crimes to investigate and a large population of people coming and going through the station. Jali found that she liked investigative work, especially following clues and hunting down the answers to what had happened.

Her time on Deep Space Five was relatively short, but it gave her more experience as an investigator and another side of Security work beyond what she had known aboard the Broadsword.

Poseidon Station — 2398

An opportunity to become Assistant Chief of Security brought Jali to Poseidon Station.

Being Assistant Chief meant Jali found herself doing a little bit of everything. She still investigated crimes, but she also helped coordinate Security operations, provided overwatch when needed, stopped thieves and helped with Security arrangements for larger events such as the Marine Ball.

She also took part in the investigation into the murder of a supposedly beloved author, something that gave her another opportunity to put her investigative skills to work.

When Breen came onto the station, Jali helped get civilians out of the way while Security dealt with the threat. After two of her people were taken down, Jali joined the fight herself.

Eventually Poseidon Station closed, bringing Jali's time there as Assistant Chief of Security to an end.

K'Mir and Starbase 123

After Poseidon closed, Jali returned to Qo'noS to spend some time with her family.

In September 2398, she met K'Mir Valadorn, a Marine officer who was on a month's leave from Starbase 123. Their first meeting was anything but quiet, as the two found themselves caught up in a barroom brawl.

Their rather unconventional meeting quickly developed into a whirlwind romance. They found that they complemented each other rather well, and in October 2398, only a short time after meeting, Jali and K'Mir were married.

When K'Mir's leave ended, the newly married couple went together to Starbase 123. K'Mir returned to his duties while Jali became part of the station's Security department, working as a member of its investigative team.

While there, Jali began putting more time into the Tactical skills she had first started developing aboard the Broadsword. Along with her work in Security Investigations, she continued her Tactical training, spent time in simulations and gained more practical experience working Tactical.

By this point it wasn't simply another useful skill Jali wanted to have. She had discovered that she enjoyed Tactical and wanted to learn more about it. Her Security and investigative background also gave her something to build upon, especially when it came to watching a developing situation, recognizing possible threats and noticing patterns.

USS Pioneer — 2399

In 2399, Jali and K'Mir received new assignments aboard the USS Pioneer. K'Mir would be serving as the Marine Executive Officer, while Jali accepted a position in Tactical.

For Jali, the move gives her the opportunity to continue building upon her Tactical experience while learning more and adding to her skills. She has no intention of leaving Security behind and still enjoys investigative work, putting that experience to use whenever it is needed.
