The Politics & Governance of Kaitos (the El Aurian Homeworld)

>center>The El-Aurian government operates as a Democratic Confederacy, headed by the Council of Elders — a centralized yet deliberative body that balances tradition with responsiveness. Despite the formal appearance of transparency and consensus, seasoned observers understand that power often flows through subtle influence, historical weight, and personal wisdom rather than direct control.
The government values deliberation over speed. Policies are debated over time to ensure longevity and alignment with both philosophical tradition and present-day needs.
Chairman Antho Hopki – A moderate diplomat known for his long service in galactic negotiations and internal policy stabilization. Believes in cautious outreach.
Councillor Allyou Islove – A progressive advocate for integration with the greater galaxy, often aligned with youth movements and reformists.
Councillor Gemenine – A cultural preservationist, deeply tied to religious factions, cautious of external influence diluting El-Aurian identity.
Councillor Miror Relfe – Head of scientific affairs, supports expanded research and slow technological reintegration. Favours secrecy for defence.
Councillor Crailo Feshau – Former military strategist, a hardened pragmatist. Often argues for planetary defence and temporal containment.
These members are selected through public acclamation and a weighted mentorship process known as the Wisdom Cycle, in which potential candidates undergo decades of observed civic leadership and education.
Political life in El-Aurian society is deeply intertwined with philosophy and memory. Leaders are expected to demonstrate not only capability, but balance—the ability to weigh decisions across time, empathy, and consequence. Popular opinion is important, but tradition and foresight carry significant weight.
While not impervious to dissent, El-Aurian politics tends to avoid overt confrontation. Disagreements are mediated through extended dialogues, often involving community forums or public debates called Vaelos Circles.
The Renewalists: Support joining the Federation and stepping back into galactic affairs. They argue that hiding no longer serves their people and that isolation breeds cultural stagnation.
The Preservationists: Prefer to remain hidden, fearing Borg retribution or cultural contamination. Closely aligned with Councillor Gemenine and several religious orders.
The Harmonicists: A growing youth movement that believes in balancing outreach with guarded control—forming alliances but protecting their core traditions and technologies.
The Watchers: A covert collective composed of veterans and temporal theorists. They believe the time for re-emergence has not yet come and seek to manipulate timelines subtly in El-Auria’s favour. Rumoured to operate independently of the Council.
Laws are enforced by the Peacewardens, a civilian law-keeping body trained in diplomatic resolution, psychology, and when needed, non-lethal combat techniques. They report directly to city chambers but can be seconded by the Council during crises.
Secrecy vs. Survival: A growing divide exists between those who believe phasing technology is essential for survival and others who view it as a crutch that isolates and infantilizes a once-great civilization.
Temporal Ethics: After centuries of avoiding time manipulation, new factions (especially in the Watchers) are proposing subtle interventions in timelines to prevent potential catastrophes—sparking fierce philosophical and legal debates.
