Diaspora & El-Aurians Abroad

The Legacy of the Exodus

The destruction of El Auria in 2265 triggered one of the greatest refugee events in galactic history. Though a coordinated evacuation effort saved a portion of the population, many El-Aurians were scattered throughout the Alpha, Beta, and Delta Quadrants—stranded in unfamiliar systems, reliant on alien hospitality, or forced into hiding.

This dispersal, known as The Diaspora, fundamentally altered El-Aurian society. Once united under a singular world and culture, they became a species of survivors, memory-keepers, and wanderers. Their knowledge, traditions, and identities were carried across space in fragments—preserved in stories, rituals, and encoded artifacts.

Cultural Adaptation

El-Aurians abroad adapted to local customs while preserving their own heritage. Many became scholars, diplomats, or advisors, respected for their emotional intelligence, empathy, and uncanny sense of time. In some regions, they were mistaken for prophets or mystics. Others were feared, particularly by authoritarian regimes, for their perceptiveness and persuasive presence.

Common traits among Diaspora El-Aurians include:

A deep sense of loss or survivor’s guilt
Reluctance to reveal true origins
An intense devotion to memory preservation (through writing, song, or telepathic resonance)
Disguised use of their temporal sense in diplomatic or political settings

Diaspora Settlements & Enclaves

Some El-Aurians formed small, hidden enclaves across the galaxy. These settlements are often located on fringe worlds, independent stations, or as semi-autonomous districts within larger urban areas.

Notable enclaves include:

The Memory Vaults of Kentrassa IV: A monastic settlement that preserves personal and ancestral memories in living crystal archives. Open only to El-Aurians and trusted allies.

The Listening Post at Karos Gate: A neutral station where El-Aurian diplomats monitor temporal anomalies and galactic shifts. Operated covertly through Federation loopholes.

The Shrouded Docks on Andor’s Moon: A quiet repair hub and refuge operated by former engineers and EED alumni, disguised as a mining facility.

These communities are not governed by Kaitos but often maintain informal ties to the Grand Council through emissaries or Watcher agents.

Relations with Other Species

El-Aurians have complex reputations in the broader galaxy:

United Federation of Planets: Generally respected and cautiously welcomed. Individuals like Guinan served as cultural ambassadors and shaped Federation views of the El-Aurians as peaceful and wise. However, the secrecy surrounding Kaitos has generated quiet suspicion among certain branches of Starfleet Intelligence.

Romulan Star Empire & Klingon Empire: View El-Aurians with a mix of intrigue and mistrust. Their persuasive abilities and longevity make them valuable allies but dangerous foes. Some El-Aurians have served as neutral intermediaries in border conflicts.

Independent Worlds & Traders: Many traders and private worlds seek out El-Aurian advisors, healers, or historians. They are known as “Listeners” in many cultures—individuals who offer clarity without command.

The Borg: Although the status of El-Aurians within the Collective is unclear, a deep fear persists among the species that they are still hunted. Some believe the Borg retain interest in El-Aurians due to their temporal awareness and resistance to certain forms of assimilation.

Return and Reintegration

Efforts are ongoing to discreetly locate and reintegrate Diaspora El-Aurians into Kaitos society. However, strict security protocols require that returnees undergo identity verification, psychological screening, and a minimum five-year period of civic contribution before full citizenship is granted.

Not all Diaspora members wish to return. Some fear the loss of freedom; others believe the planet’s secrecy is unnecessary or even cowardly. This ideological divide has created tension between the "Rooted" (Kaitos citizens) and the "Driftborn" (Diaspora natives), especially when political or cultural reintegration is debated.

Current Movements

The Drift Union: An informal network of Diaspora El-Aurians advocating for full transparency and the dismantling of Kaitos’ phased concealment.

The Veiled Bridge: A secretive organization working to reconnect lost El-Aurians with their kin—by any means necessary. Some rumours suggest they operate underground travel routes and even manipulate Starfleet records.

The Choir of the Outer Echo: A spiritualist movement of Diaspora El-Aurians who believe the scattered voices of their people form a new kind of spiritual unity. They maintain contact via subspace harmonics and story-sharing rituals.
