Mission:
Episode 15 - The Evil That Lies Beneath
Location: Main Engineering - Deck 11 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD004 1000 hrs
A new day was on the Pioneer as the ship's operations officer made her way down the ship's corridors. It was a work day for her and she had a list of tasks to do starting with a few in engineering. Stepping into the heart of the ship she looked around for the chief of engineering.
El was asleep in her alcove office, when the chirp of the alarm clock when off. waving an arm from under the quilt, she tried to turn it off, forgetting it was on the bench above her. Realising where she was she sat up, banging her head on the bench, wincing. Opening her eyes, she saw Thex looking down on her
"Morning Thex, what's up ?:"
" Hey." Thex said giving a slight proto wave as she stepped forward. " I have a few problems with the latest supply delivery i was wanting to know if you could help me look through supplies delivered to operations. I also have the latest padd with technical errors people have reported to my department. "
"Don't tell me Supply pallets SR15, 16 and 17. I know. Had about a seventy-five, eighty percent failure rate on the engineering ones." she sighed , getting up and putting her jacket on "It's the last of the Sirius station ones. We've a new supplier when we get back to Empok, so hopefully will be resolved."
" Add in supply pallets RP13, 15 and 16." Thex said handing over the list. " They're all full of winter uniforms instead of the replacement parts they should have. I've already sent the forms for them to be re-sent. Sirius must have something wrong with their computer if they keep messing up this badly. "
El went to open her mouth, closed it, then scrunched up her face " I'm not too sure it's just the computer, heard rumours the logistic staff there are having a bad time over there, so aren't bothering with their jobs, why we're getting the wrong kit, and broken stuff".
She started to tidy her space "Spoken to Trembly about it, and he's complained to the higher-ups, if it still going on, might see if High Admiral Big Ears wants to jump in."
" Indeed we do. I've compared notes on the other ships in the sector and i think we have some of their supplies." Thex said handing over another padd as she did so her antenna stood upright as she did.
El thought about it for a few moments "OK, got an idea. Grab Dave, and get his apprentices to move all the stuff for other ships into the hangar. I'll get on the call with Empok's Quartermaster, Stacey, so it'll get to the right homes. Although, think Apprentice Andresen might need one of the winter uniforms, kid's from a tropical planet- too cold here for him."
She walked over to in front of the QSD, and kicked her heel into the floor, popping off the tile.Kneeling down Elen looked over "Thex, could you give me a hand ?"
" What do you need?" Thex said as knelt down next to Elen.
"Grab that yellow lever, and turn it clockwise when I turn the blue one. That'll add the drive power to the grid, so you can run all the replicators at full blast to make what you need" She answered, explaining her plan.
" Ready to go." Thex called as she gripped the yellow lever.
"OK. On three. Three." Elen turned the blue lever with a satisfying clunk, and the green Plasma flowed along the translucent pipes.
Thex pulled her own lever as the green plasma flowed through the translucent pipes in front of her. "Everything good?" She asked Elen.
"No Alarms, so we're good. Should now be more than enough power to run the replicators full tilt, and replace all the missing supplies." The Betaziod answered, smiling.
" That's a relief." Thex responded as she headed for the replicator's control panel.
"Hopefully won't take too long for you to make everything we're missing, and if you need any patterns, just grab them out of the engineering database, they're in there for testing until I update the system- don't want a repeat of a couple of years ago, put a new set of glassware out, and forgot the bottoms of the glasses, not very useful to drink out of." Elen explained
" I hope so as well. Thank you for all the help." Thex added with a smile upon her blue face.
