From the Personal Log of Lieutenant Ja'sol H'ros Chief Security and Tactical Officer USS Pioneer

I wake up and look out my window, And watch to calm seas briefly as a pair of parasalis glide by the tower of Re Sava with the reminder of the festival of To'loma. She is the goddess of the harvest and fertility and the wife of Mo'laka, our chief god who rules over the sea and grants our rich sea harvest.

My mothers voice calls me down for breakfast and things pass in a blur and the next thing I knew it was evening . I tried to think about why I didn't remember most of the day and found it disturbing. I tried once again to focus on it but it faded from my mind and didn't seem important anymore.

The sounds of drums from our nearby island called all who heard it to come to the feast tables to join in with family, friends, neighbors and the community in sharing of the bounty and to honor our Goddess To'loma. During the festival there were dancers and performers of all kinds. There are also shows of skills and acts of bravery such as a paraglider swooping down and spearing a dangerous two meter fish and fighting it to the shoreline to be brought to the kitchens to add to the feast.

After the feasting has been done, those of the promised age ( 18+ ) are taken to a fenced in field area and given a vial of drops called the tears of To'loma, while those that are to young are ushered off to bed. The Eldorian people are all empaths and there are very few telepaths amongst the people and are revered by the people.

Those that are fo the promised age are separated by gender, males to one side and females on the other. Males wearing sandles and loose fitting silk pants that are belted and a red sash going across they're chest and golden skin that glistens in the moonlight.

The females are dressed in long slender ankle length skirts that are slit up to the thighs and what most people would call a bikini top and flowers in they're hair.

At the sound of the gong both sides start walking towards each other . Once they meet in the center you place your hands together and make a circle and then move on to the second person and repeat, but upon completing the third circle, both the male and female will place a single drop upon their tongue and then kiss. If the taste is bitter then you move on to the next person, but if the taste is sweet then they will depart the area and head for the chambers and will be married on the fifth day of the festival at it's conclusion.

The days raced by and I attend every night and do not find my promised one this year. The pairing of empaths is common since everyone is one. The pairing of a Empath and telepath is rare and their offspring will be considered gifted. But the pairing of two telepaths is very rare and their offspring will be great leaders amongst our people.

Finally all the new couples are brought forth from the chambers and are ushered in front of a large stage where the high priestess of To'loma stands to preside over the mass wedding ceremony for the several hundred new couples. But just as the High Priestess begins the ceremony begins, everything changes.

All of the color drains from everything around with the exception of me. I am the only one who can move, Everything around me turns a dull gray and then crumbles away into nothingness. I am left standing or floating in a void unable to move from the spot that I am in. I call out only to have my words die in the air and echo off of nothing. It is like the darkness has eaten my words before they could even be heard.

As I was beginning to despair, theses creatures began to emerge from the darkness from all around me . These horrid creatures with no features except for deep sunken eyes that appeared to be soulless.

I could hear them crying out to me in my mind, yet I could not tell if they were pleading for help or accusing me of some horrible fate that was to befall them. Just as I felt that I was able to stand no more of their intense cries of pain or pleading, it stopped as suddenly as it started. I watched them fade from my view back into nothingness.

The next thing I remember was standing in the middle of my quarters soaked in sweat and wondering what had just happened to me. I tried to recall what happened but nothing came to mind. I tried to ask myself why I can't remember the nightmare that I just had? I knew it was a nightmare but how come I can't recall any details? Why an I standing in the middle of my room? And why can't I shake this heavy feeling of dread? I will have to talk to someone about thisand figure this out.
