Mission:
Episode 16 - Silent Cries
Location: Quarters of Lieutenant Commander Hermia O'Rourke - Deck 2 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD002 0900 hrs
"Operations to Commander O'Rourke."
"O'Rourke here." Hermia replied.
"We have a call from a Brigadier General O'Rourke for you."
"Thank you, put it through to my console."
"Aye, ma'am." The Operations officer said.
Hermia walked over to her console and sat down.
The emblem of the SFMC appeared on her screen, and was replaced be the face of a man in a Brigadier General's uniform. The man had a weathered face, his once jet black hair and beard, were now sprinkled with white.
"Good morning, Hermia." He said. His voice was rich with a faint Irish lilt.
"So what do I owe the pleasure of this call, Father?" Hermia asked.
"There's no need to be be so confrontational, Hermia."
"Why not? The only reason you call me is to berate me for some error you believe I've made." Hermia replied.
"I'm not calling to berate you, Hermia."
"Thank God for small miracles." She replied sardonically.
"I've received a promotion." Seamus said.
"Congratulations, you deserve it, Father." Hermia replied. She may not rate him as a father, but she knew he was a great Marine and deserved his accolades.
"Thank you, Hermia. The promotion comes with a new assignment, I'm to tack over as Commanding Officer of Camp Nostromo, once the current CO retires in the next few months. The Pioneer will be transported me there." Seamus said. "Hopefully I can spend some time with you, Edward, and my darling granddaughter, Helena."
Hermia could see he was reaching out and said. "That's nice, have you talked to Mum?" She asked.
"I'd rather speak to her in person, when I reach Empok Nor." Seamus replied.
"Maybe you should give her a heads up, you know how much she hates surprises."
"True." Seamus replied. "So how's Edward fitting in?"
"We'll he still thinks he's God's gift to women." Hermia said. "I heard he tried it on with one of the female Marines, one Warrant Officer Ryan, they were out together at the Corps Birthday celebrations. He touch her six and she told him that he wanted to keep his hand, here move it asap."
Seamus laughed. "So, what's Ryan's MOS?"
"She's a sniper with a background in Intel." Hermia replied.
"Well, he had his work cut out there, I'm glad he put him in his place, you don't mess with senior enlisted."
"I know that, my head nurse is a former Marine sergeant, we worked together at Camp Diamond." Hermia said. "My 2-i-c is also a former Marine, but he was an officer."
"Well, it seems I have a few more people to meet while I'm aboard the Pioneer." Seamus said. A smile crossed his lips.
A beep came form the Brigadier General's console. He looked down. "Sorry, I'm going to have to cut this short, I have a summary court martial I have to preside over." He said. "Give my regards to Edward. "Féach leat go luath, a Hermia." (See you soon, Hermia)
"I understand, the ugly responsibilities of being a senior officer. "Féach leat go luath, a Athair." (See you soon, Father)
With that Seamus' face disappeared, replaced by the Starfleet logo.
Hermia turned off the terminal and went to find her brother. Hopefully he was staying out of trouble, but she doubted it.
