Mission:
Episode 16 - Silent Cries
Location: Empok Nor/Audie's Quarters
Timeline: MD003 0300 hrs
She had to get there, but, unfortunately, try as she might, 'there' remained elusive. For the umpteenth time, she unfolded the paper that had been jammed in her pocket and turned it over (and over) in her hands. The writing was there, but the problem was, every time she tired to read them, the words 'jumped' to the other side of the paper, so that they never settled long enough for her to read them.
And the PADD wasn't any better. Sure, there were words, familiar letters in familiar patterns that she just couldn't read.
Frustrated, she stalked along the dimly lit corridor, trying to convince herself that it wasn't getting more narrow and confining as she went, nor that the ceiling seemed to be getting progressively lower.
She couldn't stop -- someone needed help, they were flailing, failing -- if only she could get there!
The sense of urgency and dread grew exponentially as the end of the corridor loomed closer, and those dammed words still would not form into anything she could read, even though she knew they should...if only...
Suddenly, she was there...or somewhere, at the end, staring into a mirror, at herself, only it wasn't her, it was...she knew this...it was...who?
Who was she? She'd seen another her, had talked, done...something. But how? If there was another her, then did that mean she..
Awakened by a loud scream, Audie's eyes flew open, but for a moment, she just lay still in the darkness, listening, sensing, until she heard a savage hiss.
"Lights on!" Sitting up, Audie quickly assessed that nothing was out of place, there was no looming monster, there was...
HISS!
Across the room, Buster was staring at the ceiling, his back arched and tail fluffed, but there wasn't anything there.
"Buster!"
Nothing.
"BUSTER!"
The cat seemed to snap out of a trance, looking at Audie in confusion, then he darted to the bed and hid under the covers...

I really loved this post, and having Buster notice something was a great touch. I felt chills when i read this.
