Mission:
Episode 18 - The Edge of Darkness
Location: The Calhoun Family Quarters - Deck 2 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD005 1600 hrs
Jennifer walked into the family quarters that was assigned to them. Her new little family. Never thought that would happen. And she actually felt great. She never really thought about until her sister had a child. But she was quite happy.
Her hubby went to see if after 11 was still there and she said she would join him later. She wanted to settle in first with their daughter Dana. The young two year old was quite a handful at times. She was quite curious. She was often found diddling around on Empok Nor from the moment she could walk.
She grabbed her child's arm and pulled her into the quarters as she hauled in some of their bags. The doors closed behind them. Dana ran around the living area flapping her arms . "Look mommy...look mommy..." There was so much to see. She never been on a starship before. It was her first experience.
Jennifer put the bags on the couch. "I know, honey, this is our new home." She laughed continuing, "Well, for you, mommy and daddy have been here before."
The child's eyes grow as her mother spoke. "Really..." She clapped her little hands. She then went to explore the quarters. She had so many energy.
Jennifer had started to unpack. She was of the orderly kind. She probably couldn't finish it right now. She was waiting for the baby sitter so she could report in for duty.
A door chimed and a young woman was at the door. The sitter. Jennifer let her in. "Melody Ackerman, Lieutenant. I am here to take care of Dana Calhoun."
Not as soon as the sitter had spoken Dana came out of her room, her arms flapping like wings. "Uh oh...little accident..." She said giggling.
Jennifer sighed. "Oh great, just what we need."
Melody smiled. "It's okay, ma'am, I'll clean it up." She immediately walked over to Dana and picked her. "You want to help me pick out the clothes?"
Dana wildly flapped her little. "Miss Dana...don't like..." Dana didn't like to be carried around by strangers. And she was protesting out loud.
Jennifer watched the two and that said firm. "Dana...be nice. Mommy and daddy will be back before dinner."
Her daughter calmed down. She looked to her mother. "Okay...bring back slacks."
Jennifer chuckled. "Sure thing. I'll call daddy about the snacks." She then walked through the door.
She started to walk the familiar hallways and corridors. Not much had changed. She had half a mind of going to engineering. Her hand moved to her badge. "That's right, you're not here anymore." She then put her hand on her side. She hadn't felt it ache in a long time. But now that she was back on the pioneer, her old scar was pulsing a bit. Just a memory. It wasn't actually aching.
She chuckled as she remembered that day the bull hit her side. So many memories. She hadn't thought about it until she returned to the Pioneer. Maybe there were some old friends she was returning to. And some things had changed.
She pressed her combadge. "Lieutenant Junior Masters to Colonel Tremble, are you up for drink with an old friend, sir?"
