Mission:
Episode 15 - The Evil That Lies Beneath
Location: Various USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD008 1100 hrs
Hermia felt the solid deck beneath her and heard the normal sounds of the ship. She opened her eyes, that she didn't remember closing, and took in the familiar surroundings of Sickbay. Am I home? She asked herself.
Pulling herself to her feet, she asked aloud. "Computer, what is my current location?"
"Lieutenant Commander Hermia O'Rourke, your current location is Main Sickbay on Deck 5 of the Intrepid Class USS Pioneer, NCC-74757."
Hermia breathed a sigh of relief.
"Computer, what is the current location of Helena Moreno?" She asked.
Before the Computer could answer a familiar figure appeared. He wore a fine business suit and a malevolent gaze.
"She is mine now, Bitch. You're an unfit mother." He said. His Spanish lint erupting into an mocking laugh.
He turned to walk away. His laugh still present in the air.
She charged at him, only for him to knock her back to the floor and for her to lose consciousness.
She woke up screaming and Kimba rushed to her side and helped her to her feet.
"Helena?" Hermia asked almost pleadingly.
"She's fine, she at school." Kimba replied.
Hermia breathed a sigh of relief, and almost collapse in the nurse's arms.
"We glad to have you back, Doc. Left's get you over to the biobed." Kimba said half carry, half dragging her boss.
The last thing Ja'sol remembered was a bright flash of light, Now he was on his hands and knees with his phaser in hand staring at the floor in front of his face. He looked up and about the room and recognized he was in Sickbay.
Ja'sol felt a burning pain in his left arm and noticed that part of his uniform was burnt. He stood up and holstered his phaser. " Computer, What is the crew compliment of the ship? " He asked.
The crew compliment of the USS Pioneer is four hundred.
"Is everyone on the ship's manifest present and accounted for?" Ja'sol asked the computer.
All ship personal are present and accounted for.
A nurse was startled as she almost ran into him. "Sir, Where did you come from? I swear you weren't here a moment ago."
Ja'sol watched the confusion on her face. "That is an excellent question, I'd like an answer to that as well."
"Sir you look a bit worse for wear, Let's get you to a biobed and have someone take a look at you." Ja'sol followed the nurse to the nearest biobed and waited his turn to be seen.
Vura found herself undignifiedly splayed across the corridor between sickbay and her office. She looked around to see if anyone saw her like this. She gave a heavy sigh of relief and quickly picked herself off the floor and simultaneously patted her sides to straighten her clothing and dusted herself off with two hands.
Well, time to see if I'm really back.... Vura headed immediately towards sickbay. "Hermia?!" she called out. "Hermia, are you here?"
Hearing Vura, Hermia sat up on her biobed. "Vura, I'm over here!" She called.
Vura waded through the sea of people and ran up to Hermia. "We're back, aren't we?" There was a great deal of enthusiasm in Vura's voice as she practically bounced, getting nearer to Hermia with every breath.
"Yes, we are, Vura." Hermia said with a smile.
"I apologize for testing that, but...." Without warning, Vura quickly embraced Hermia, knowing that her Deltan pheromones would take hold of the Doctor. She called out to the medical staff, "Please sedate the Chief the moment she shows that she's affected by the hormones. I'll take full responsibility."
"Aye. ma'am." Kimba said, prepared a hypospray and monitored Hermia.
Hermia felt pure love in Vura's warm embrace. Her heart began to race. Moments later she could feel something tugging at her sanity. She felt the hypo and then darkness.
"Well, I guess we're back," Vura concluded. She apologized to everyone there. "I'm sorry to put you all and Hermia through this. When she's conscious, please let me know so I can apologize to her once again more appropriately."
"Understood, ma'am." Kimba said. "I'm sure she won't mind."
"Probably not," Vura answered worriedly. "Still, I do not wish to endanger her further."
Alyssa's head hit the desk with a thunk. She sat back, rubbing her forehead. She was back in her office, but was she back on the real Pioneer? Her head felt a little foggy, so she closed her eyes and focused on her other senses. For a moment she sensed nothing, then she felt people in the science labs around her. A moment later, her mind cleared and a flood of thought roared through her mind and subsided to the background noise she was used to, confirming that the plan worked. But just to be sure, she signed in to her computer to access her personal database, only satisfied when her files populated across the screen. She closed her database and looked for the rest of the senior staff. Everyone made it. She laughed with relief.
They were back, but what of the ship? And Rowena? She wasn't sure she wanted to ask the computer about that, just in case the chief intelligence officer was monitoring such queries. Perhaps it would be better to ask someone in her department? She checked the chronometer and decided to start with astrometrics. She could verify where they were and check on the progress of the scans. They had originally come here to scan the nebula, and astrometrics would be the best place to check on that--and to ask about the status of the captain and second officer. It seemed like a fitting place to begin. Besides, she needed to get back to work to try and get her encounter with the false Jek'Lar out of her head by focusing on science.
Elen woke up blearily in her bed, wiping drool from her mouth and sand from her eyes. As the world coalesced around her, it felt real, it looked real. She yawned, stretching. Was all that a dream ? She looked at her arm, odd she was wearing a uniform. Her usual uniform was a pile at the end of the bed, next to the chair, where her tools were. She got up, staggering over to her desk. She sat down, taking the tools out of her uniform pocket and comparing them to the ones on the chair in front of her- they were identical, even down the nicks and castings.
She thought about it for a few seconds, shaking her head to wake up a bit more, finally turning on a light, rather than just going by the glow around the quarters. Finding her tricorder, she scanned the new tools and uniform saving a frequency to the memory and writing it down. That was a later problem. taking the jacket and undershirt off, she threw them on top of the pile, and turned off the light.
Shoes off, trousers off, back into bed under the covers. Within a few minutes, she was back asleep, snorting and snoring.
Thex let out a sharp outburst of her breath as she felt solid ground under her blue feet. Finding herself on the floor of operations she bolted upright her hand going to her combadge. =^= This is Thex did anyone else make it? =^=
Vura was relieved after her encounter with Hermia. She had been pretty sure she was back when she had seen all the personnel, but she too had felt the need for confirmation. She touched her commbadge, =^= Yes, Lieutenant Thex, this is the Counselor. We are in the correct place. =^=
Neil became aware slowly.
By inches.
Keeping his eyes closed, he decided he was laying on his right side. On an unpadded deck. Gravity felt normal, or close to it. There was atmosphere. He could breath though that hurt a bit.
Opening his eyes, he was in the dark but the presence of pain in his ribs and knee told him he likely wasn't dead.
"Computer, lights at combat conditions," he croaked out, rolling onto his back.
Red lights oozed on and he realized he was in the Cure's Morgue: the various combat suits hanging, stored, or scattered about on work tables as normal. His memories came back and he thought maybe blowing up the... whatever or wherever it was had worked. Wincing he tried sitting up and decided that was a bad idea and his vision began closing in and his brain latched onto then verbalized, "Rommie. Attention on Deck."
The coded phrase in Marine Country instantly brought the AI online. She materialized and took stock immediately, having known the layout of the Morgue but experiencing it now through her visual matrixing. In less than a heartbeat she knew the Major was back and he'd activated her.
As he blacked out, Neal slurred, "..nnnitiate Oh Shit protocol."
Rommie's appearance instantly changed to blood red battle armor and she knelt over the the Major and took control of portions of the Morgues systems and activated the localized transporter wordlessly, whisking Neil away.
